SHINEE’S TAEMIN DISCHARGED FROM MILITARY

On April 4th, Taemin officially completed his mandatory military service.

To mark his return, Taemin shared a handwritten letter on SM Entertainment’s community page, expressing his gratitude to his fans.

Taemin first enlisted in 2021 on May 31st. However, he was later transferred to an alternative service, meaning fans were unsure of when his exact discharge date would be.

It was later revealed last year that Taemin would be discharged on April 4th, and since then fans have been counting down the days until his return.

SHINee’s official account also dropped a video titled TAEMIN IS BACK on April 4, midnight KST, featuring the idol training and dancing before his enlistment. The video increased fans’ excitement for Taemin’s return – and now he is finally back!

Taemin’s letter and translation can be found below:

“Hello, this is Taemin.

If it was really long, it would have been long, if it was short, it would have been a short time.

Even though it seems like it was a valuable time for me to look back on myself

I realised more that I was very grateful and happy for the past time I had.

I miss you so much that even saying I miss you isn't enough, and

I think everyone who believed in me and waited for me must have felt the same way as I did.

Funny enough, this kind of thinking gives me more strength and

is also one of the reasons that made me mature.

Thank you so much for making a person like me special, and I will move forward with a sense of mission while repaying you with a grateful heart for the rest of my life!

I will always be a part of your happiness!! Please take good care of me in the future.”
